Sounds to me like you were going for a Happy-Hardcore styled song. It's really catchy, and I like how you incorporated the drum loops and glitching effects. That middle section was probably my favorite, but overall, I feel this is a pretty solid track. Perhaps only a slightly lower BPM would have made this a little easier to follow, because there is a lot going on.

One thing to look for is volume levels of everything. Everything sounds like it's on top of each other, and they are all fighting each other to be hear over the others. Just play around with sound levels and panning (very minimal panning) to try and give each sound its own "place" in everything. Keep it up though, this was great!

Thanks! I wasn't really thinking of Happy Hardcore when making this song, I was rather going for the Dimrain47/NightHawk22 style but you could technically tell this is Happy Hardcore. I love putting drum loops and glitch effects over pretty much everything as long as it sounds good! I'm glad you liked that little drum'n'bass section, I spent some time figuring out how to make a nice drum loop out of those free samples. Maybe it's just me but I personally don't think it deserves a slower pace, I already got used to listening to tracks as fast as this one, although I probably wouldn't mind going somewhere between 170 and 190bpm.
Mixing and mastering is sadly something I still struggle with the most. It could be because of what I'm using to produce my tracks - a pair of headphones. My speakers wouldn't be really good either, I barely even use them. For now it's just the Ozone limiter that makes my songs sound less miserable when it comes to mastering. Thank you again for the review!

I feel like this could swell up towards the end, with everything kinda falling into each other and then that silent bit transitions to a jazzier version of the chord progression you have here without the pads in the background (or at least with them taken further back). Lots of room for some interesting drum rolls and syncopated timing! Awesome track, and what it leaves for the imagination is just as fun!

Thank you bro.

Very much a demo/throwaway. I throw bad and good up these days, too old to care lol. I like this but I have no commitment to it. There's an idea for a better player or a different time.

Genuinely glad you like it, happy you took a tone and atmosphere. my only goal.

Im really diggin the acoustic percussion here. The overall feel is pretty haunting in such a chill way. I think you couldv'e gotten away with a slighty deeper/fuller sounding kick drum, but that's personal opinion, and this one works just as well! Enjoyed it!

pitbulljones responds:

Thank you. Key aim is always atmosphere.

Everything you point out is on point. I'll be refining this, it's nice to see others acknowledge what I pick out, it means our ears are working.

Thanks

Im Lovin the vibe of this track. A few friendly suggestions: I would pull those wave sounds more into the background of the track. It kinda felt like it was fighting with everything else to be heard at the same time. The filter section could possibly be a bit shorter, with it gradually fading back to unfiltered. Just some suggestions though.. again, I was really diggin the feel of this!

Note taken! Appreciate the feedback!

I can definitely see this track in a thriller game! Some badass scene where you have to run away from all sorts of evil shit, or a chase that leads you into an epic boss fight! I can really hear the SH influence in this track!!

Success!! Glad it sounds like it : ]

What samples are you using for the percussion??? This really sounds great! As you have already said, variations in the hi-hats are needed, but save for that, this track sounded very smooth XD I like the drop at 1:40, where it goes to just the beat and violins. You brought it back pretty smooth too. Very nice work! I am going to keep my eye on you!

Unorthodoxbeats responds:

Bass drums also Hi hats are from JayDee Kit, Clap+snare is from KlubKlapz with some reverb
then I just got some random Snare Drum not sure where it's from but you can get some nice snare/drums from the Lex Luger Drum Kit

Im def. feeling the hi-hat pattern you got going on. The synths blend nicely together, and give the track a good direction! Sounds like something you would hear in a game or short scene in a film. Nice work! My only issue is that it stops too soon and doesn't vary much at all. Keep up the good work!

Unorthodoxbeats responds:

Thanks ya the reason why it's doesn't vary too much is because it's actually a layout for a rapper to go on.. This was actually passed to Ace Hood so we'll see if he uses it or not.

Again it's just a preview so it's for the general vibe of the track

Very chill

This track is pretty relaxing :) Not very dynamic, but overall the song was still enjoyable. The beat was pretty nice as well, nice and relaxed along with the rest of the song, so it wasn't out of place :) Sorry it took so long to leave a review, been kinda busy. Keep on makin music! The more you make, the better you will become!

Smackster responds:

Fruity Loops 8! I'm still pretty new to it, I'm using mainly stock sounds with a couple effects thrown in. Thanks for the review man, always appreciated.
